The INPUTT golf training aid teaches you an easily repeatable putting stroke. It encourages what some refer to as muscle memory and creates strong neural pathways through repetition. Repetition and consistency are the keys to controlling your putt.
INPUTT helps you easily identify and correct problems with your stance and stroke.
The INPUTT golf training aid shows you your bad habits and allows you to develop a consistent movement pattern.
When used correctly, INPUTT helps you put the ball in the same place every time. Even if you miss the hole, the ball should come to rest at the same place when using the device.
INPUTT is not a variable.
By removing as many variables as possible, INPUTT lets you focus entirely on your stance and stroke.
You should see a dramatic improvement after practicing with INPUTT for ten to fifteen minutes a day, three to five times a week.
Setting Up INPUTT
Using the INPUTT Golf Training Aid
- On a practice green, find a flat spot about six feet from the hole
- Putt several balls to ensure you have a flat, straight path
- Once found, drop a ball to mark the spot
- Take your putter, one tee, and the string to the hole
- Hold the toe of your putter flush with left edge of the hole (or right edge of hole for left-handed use)
- Insert the tee at the center of your putter face
- Secure the string to the tee
- Walk back toward the ball placed as your marker
- Fully extend string in line with the ball until taut, insert tee in loop, push tee into ground
- Place INPUTT on the ground under the string about three feet from the hole, aligning the 2 long white lines on INPUTT with the string, where the curved side of INPUTT is your putter’s guiding surface.
- Align the 2 long white lines under string
- Press and hold INPUTT firmly on the white circle and insert a tee into the hole at each end
Move Into Position
- Stand on the straight side of INPUTT, centering your stance on the line closest to the white circle
- Hold your putter in a relaxed–but firm–grip
- Bend forward, keeping your knees unlocked and your elbows at the sides of your torso
- Place your putter down just behind the white circle, resting the putter heel on INPUTT
- Form a straight club line from your leading elbow, along the back of your hand, and directly down your putter to the club face
- Your weight should be biased toward your toes, and 60/40 toward your leading leg
Go Through The Motions
- Without a ball, gently run the heel of the club back and forth along the stroke side of INPUTT, staying within the short white lines
- Do this a few times, letting INPUTT guide the heel of your putter
- Ensure that your club face remains square to the short white lines through your entire stroke
- Never follow through beyond INPUTT
- Your head, torso, hips, legs, and feet should remain firmly in place
- Once you have a feel for the proper putting stroke, place a ball in front of the white circle and centered on your putter face, then begin practice
Don’t pull the putter back hard against INPUTT – let INPUTT gently guide your stroke.
Putting With INPUTT
- Start your backstroke by lowering your leading shoulder, rotating your shoulders in a pendulum motion
- Keep your eyes on the ball
- Maintain contact with the heel of your putter on the stroke side of INPUTT during follow-through
- Never follow through beyond INPUTT
- Hit three balls in a row with the same velocity
- If the balls miss the hole but come to rest at the same place each time, INPUTT is most likely not aligned properly. Rotate the front end of INPUTT slightly in the direction opposite that of which the ball missed the hole.
If the balls take different paths each time, continue working on a consistent stroke before moving INPUTT.
- Hit three more balls and continue to move INPUTT as necessary
- Once you hit three balls in a row into the hole, you have found the proper putting path!
