Training Guide

Distance Builder Speed Training Plan

Follow this simple 5-week progression to build golf-specific speed, strength, and power with controlled, repeatable swings.

Before each drill and practice session, warm up properly to help avoid injury. Take a 15–20 second pause between every fast swing.

Weeks 1 – 2

Estimated time: 8–12 minutes
  • 1 3 swings without added weight on your non-dominant side
  • 2 3 swings without added weight on your dominant side
  • 3 3 swings with the smaller added weight on your non-dominant side
  • 4 3 swings with the smaller added weight on your dominant side
  • 5 3 swings with the heavier added weight on your non-dominant side
  • 6 3 swings with the heavier added weight on your dominant side
  • 7 3 swings without added weight on your non-dominant side
  • 8 3 swings without added weight on your dominant side
Focus on fast, balanced swings while maintaining control throughout the motion.

Weeks 3 – 5

Progression phase
  • 1 5 swings without added weight on your non-dominant side
  • 2 5 swings without added weight on your dominant side
  • 3 5 swings with the smaller added weight on your non-dominant side
  • 4 5 swings with the smaller added weight on your dominant side
  • 5 5 swings with the heavier added weight on your non-dominant side
  • 6 5 swings with the heavier added weight on your dominant side
  • 7 5 swings without added weight on your non-dominant side
  • 8 5–8 swings without added weight on your dominant side
As you progress, keep the speed high but never sacrifice balance, rhythm, or safety.

Questions Before You Buy

What does The Distance Builder help with?
The Distance Builder helps golfers train golf-specific strength, swing speed, and power. It is designed to help you create more clubhead speed so you can work toward longer, more powerful drives.
How do I use it?
Start by warming up properly. Then follow the training guide by making fast, controlled swings with no added weight, the smaller added weight, and the heavier added weight. Take a 15–20 second pause between each fast swing.
Why does it have screw-on weights?
The screw-on weights let you adjust the resistance level during training. You can swing without weight, with the smaller weight, or with the heavier weight to progressively build strength, speed, and power.
What is the difference between dominant and non-dominant side swings?
Dominant side swings are made in your normal golf swing direction. Non-dominant side swings are made in the opposite direction. Training both sides helps improve balance, coordination, and overall speed development.
How long does the drill take?
The Weeks 1–2 drill takes about 8–12 minutes. As you progress into Weeks 3–5, the number of swings increases, but the goal stays the same: fast, balanced swings with proper rest between reps.
Can I use it before a round?
Yes. The Distance Builder can be used as part of a warmup routine, but start slow and avoid overdoing it before you play. The goal is to activate your swing speed, not fatigue your body.
Is this the 45 inch version?
Yes. This page is for The Distance Builder 45 Inch, which is designed to feel closer to a full-size driver-style training motion.
Is it for right or left-handed golfers?
Yes. The Distance Builder can be used by both right-handed and left-handed golfers. Simply perform the dominant and non-dominant side drills based on your normal swing direction.
What is the return policy?
Your purchase is backed by our 60 day money back guarantee.
