The mechanism

How the board works

There's no app, no sensor, and no screen. The whole thing runs on a spring and a sound.

👟

1. You press down

Stand with your lead foot on the platform. As you transition, pressure moves into that foot — downward, not sideways.

🔧

2. The spring gives

The platform is spring-loaded to a set threshold. Enough downward force and it travels. Lateral sliding won't move it.

🔊

3. You hear the click

An audible click marks the exact instant your shift crossed the threshold. Not roughly. Exactly.

That last part is the whole product. The click isn't a reward — it's a timestamp. What matters is when in your swing you hear it.

Why it works

Four reasons a sound beats a screen

Weight shift is one of the hardest things in golf to self-diagnose. Here's why audible feedback solves it.

The feedback is instant

Motor learning depends on how quickly you connect an action to its result. Video review puts a gap between the swing and the information. The click arrives while the movement is still happening.

There's nothing to interpret

Watching yourself on video means judging positions, which means guessing. The click is binary. It happened, or it didn't — and it happened at a specific moment.

Your eyes are already busy

You're looking at a ball. Hearing is the one channel that's free during the swing, so feedback can arrive without breaking your focus or your posture.

It corrects you without a coach

Every rep tells you whether you were early or late, so you self-adjust in real time. That's what turns a rehearsed position into an automatic one.

The progression

Four drills, in order

Don't skip ahead. Each drill builds the feel the next one depends on.

No club · 3 minutes

Find the Click

  1. Set up on the board in your normal stance, arms crossed over your chest.
  2. Without any backswing, simply press into your lead foot until you hear the click.
  3. Do it slowly ten times. Notice how much pressure it takes and where you feel it in your lead leg.
  4. Now try to click it by sliding your hips sideways instead. It won't go.
The pointYou're calibrating. Before you can time the move, you need to know what the move feels like — and prove to yourself that sliding isn't shifting.

No club · 3 minutes

Beat the Top

  1. Arms still crossed. Make a slow, deliberate backswing turn.
  2. While your shoulders are still turning back, press into the lead foot.
  3. The click must come before your turn finishes. If it comes after, you were late.
  4. Ten reps. Speed the turn up only once the click reliably lands early.
The pointThis is the drill that changes swings. It will feel far too early — that's the tell that your old timing was late.

With a club · 5 minutes

Half Swings, Same Click

  1. Take a mid-iron. Make half swings at roughly half speed, no ball.
  2. Keep the click landing in the same place: before the club finishes going back.
  3. If the click disappears, the club is stealing your attention. Drop back to Drill 2 for a few reps.
  4. Build to three-quarter swings only when the timing holds.
The pointAdding the club is where most timing gains get lost. This step protects them.

With a ball · 5 minutes

Ball, Then No Board

  1. Hit shots off the board — mat, turf, or into a net.
  2. Alternate: three swings on the board, then three off it, chasing the same feel.
  3. On the off-board swings, say "click" out loud at the moment you think it would have fired.
  4. Finish every session with the board, so the last thing you feel is correct.
The pointTransfer. The goal was never to swing well on a board — it was to take the timing to the first tee.

Troubleshooting

If the click isn't cooperating

No click at all
You're sliding, not pressing. Your hips are moving toward the target but your weight is staying centered. Try Drill 1 again and think about pushing the floor away rather than moving over it.
Click comes too late
The most common one. Your sequence is right but it starts after the downswing has begun. Go back to Drill 2 and exaggerate — press so early it feels absurd. Absurd is usually about right.
Click on the backswing only
You never loaded the trail side. You're starting with weight forward and staying there, so there's nothing to shift. Feel your trail leg accept pressure going back before you look for the click.
Timing is good, contact got worse
Expected, and temporary. Moving your pressure earlier moves your low point forward, so early strikes can go thin while you recalibrate. Stay with half swings until contact settles.

Putting it together

A three-week ramp

Five minutes a day beats an hour on Saturday. Timing is a habit, and habits are built by repetition, not volume.

Week 1

Drills 1 and 2 only. No club. Five minutes, most days. You're building the feel.

Week 2

Two minutes of Drill 2 as a warm-up, then Drill 3 with a mid-iron.

Week 3

Drill 4. Add the board to your pre-round warm-up so the timing shows up on the first tee.

And keep Drill 2 forever. Thirty seconds of it before you play is the cheapest tempo check in golf.
